I grew up in the south of Germany and Turkey.
After my photography training I went to Berlin and Istanbul to study history and cultural studies.
The interest in social structures of individuals and groups was a crucial factor to link the practice of photography to my studies. Since then I explore the role of a photographer as a mediator of public debate and discourse, especially with regards to sociocultural phenomena.
I believe education is key and photography an instrument that can be used on many levels to reach and empower people.
